The Advanced Assembly Databases were created by John Fredley over the past 3 decades. Combining the experience of a general contractor and university-level teaching skills, John developed expertise in computerized estimating to create the Advanced Assembly Databases.
Certified General Contractor
While managing his own firm building residential, multifamily, and commercial projects, John developed keen insights into the construction business. He held 2 state general contractors licenses.
As a member of the National Association of Home Builders, he served as President of a local chapter, State Director, and National Director. During these years of service, John addressed the concerns of his fellow builders and was a speaker at national conventions for both the Associated General Contractors and the National Association of Home Builders.
Expertise in Computerized Estimating
To address developing needs of his construction company, he created one of the first GC estimating databases and in 1987 converted it for use in Timberline Estimating.
After receiving certification as a Timberline Consultant and Trainer, John began training clients to use Timberline-Sage Estimating. His clients extend across the United States and Canada.
University-Level Teaching Skills
John continued to develop his teaching skills as a professor of Construction Management for six years at the University of Washington. Through teaching he had the opportunity to integrate construction experience and expertise in construction software technology to bring hands-on management techniques into the classroom.
Using lecture and presentations in the classroom and a hands-on approach in the computer lab, John taught Construction Estimating, Timberline Estimating, Scheduling, Advanced Integrated Computer Applications, Construction Methods & Materials, and Contract Documents.
John’s early interest in using construction software and developing estimating databases led him to seek a masters degree in construction management and to write his thesis on database integration for the construction industry.
